and Gentlemen: We are proud to announce that Your Hi-Class Picture Show
of 2005 will be premiering in Montreal this November, with shows in Toronto,
New York and Beyond to follow thereafter.
If you’ve never been to a Hi-Class Picture Show, you’re in for quite a treat. Automatic Vaudeville has often been termed “world class” in its showmanship. A bounty of magical movies, live musical excitements, dance, dramatic monologues, “star”-powered door prizes and scientific amazement all await the discerning patron.
In an age where going to the movies has become a homogenized, grossly commercial experience (no more trips to the Paramount, thank you!), the Automatic Vaudeville Hi-Class Picture Show aims to restore movie-going to its joyous roots in the early days of cinema.
Automatic Vaudeville Studios has been presenting its Hi-Class Picture Shows in Montreal for over 5 years, to an increasingly overflowing crowd of cinema fans. From the Picture Show’s humble beginnings at our creaky loft over Bagel Etc. to its glitzy latest digs at Montreal’s venerable showroom La Sala Rossa, Automatic Vaudeville prides itself on providing its audience with a memorably jam-packed and thoroughly old fashioned night of entertainment to be enjoyed with a special sweetheart, old friends, or even “work colleagues.”
Sold-out crowds enjoy Picture Show favourites like musical maven Dr. Nadia Moss, Piano Bonanzas, and one-of-a-kind tap dance/keyboard sensation Big Gold Hoops & Kosher Dill Spears. Previews of upcoming hits, cartoon surprises, and technological innovations like “Choose-O-Rama” are all on hand to thrill and delight, along with When the Lights Go Down, Mark Slutsky’s sterling series of dramatic monologues from cinematic classics like The Devil’s Advocate and Fools Rush In.
